Neurosensitive-Led Counselling

That Understands your Experience and Meets you Where you are

Counselling is not about fixing what is wrong, nor does it have to follow a one-model-fits-all approach.

Life can be busy, messy and demanding. We live in a world of constant information, stimulation, expectations and pressure to keep up. For many women, the demands of work, relationships, motherhood, caregiving and the many invisible responsibilities of daily life can leave very little space to simply be.

And when you experience the world deeply, are highly sensitive or neurodivergent, are moving through hormonal changes, parenting or navigating a significant life transition, these demands can sometimes feel amplified. What might seem manageable from the outside can require an enormous amount of energy on the inside.

You may find yourself feeling exhausted, anxious, overwhelmed or overstimulated. Perhaps you feel constantly “on”, caught in reactivity, struggling to recover, or wondering how long you can keep going. You may be navigating burnout, self-doubt, or a persistent feeling that you are somehow falling behind.

There can also be the quieter experience of feeling different. Not quite fitting in. Trying to understand why things seem easier for others. Comparing yourself to other women or mothers and wondering, How do they manage to do it all?

A neurosensitive-led approach begins from the understanding that your way of experiencing the world matters. Rather than asking you to adapt yourself to a predetermined model, we can become curious about how your mind, body, sensitivity, needs, strengths and circumstances interact — and what might help you move through life with greater awareness, movability and ease.

I know that finding your way is not always linear and can even appear unmanageable sometimes. Even when you do find yourself and what works for you, it may look quite different than mainstream trends or than what others do. And that is ok.

You don't have to navigate those moments alone.

I’m Allison (she/her), the counsellor behind Ally Counselling — and a neurosensitive woman myself.

Originally from France, my own life has taken me across different countries and cultures. I have lived in New Caledonia and New Zealand, and have now called Australia home for the past 10 years. Living between cultures and languages has shaped my understanding of what it means to adapt, while also recognising that finding a sense of belonging can remain difficult and ongoing. At times, I have felt connected to different places yet not entirely at home in any one of them. I offer counselling in both French and English, welcoming the richness and complexity that can come with navigating life across cultures.

I am a late-discovered neurodivergent woman, partner and mother within a wonderfully neurospicy family. My own experiences have shaped the way I see people, wellbeing and counselling, and have given me a deep appreciation for how complex it can be to navigate identity, relationships, family life and the expectations we place on ourselves.

I am endlessly curious about what makes us human and a lifelong learner in the areas of mental health, how the mind works and wellbeing. Outside of counselling, you’ll often find me reading with a nice cup of tea, writing, baking, spending time at home with my family, or getting into nature whenever I can to collect nature wonders and gaze at beautiful skies.

Professionally, I am a qualified counsellor with a Master of Counselling and have more than 15 years of experience working as a nurse in mental health, across public and private settings, supporting adults and adolescents and working across a range of mental health and wellbeing areas.

Alongside my professional experience, I bring lived experience to my work. I know that understanding ourselves and finding ways of living that feel sustainable is rarely straightforward or linear. Sometimes we have insight but still struggle to translate it into everyday life. Sometimes what we need is not another strategy, but space to slow down, connect and understand what is really going on.

This is why my counselling is integrative, flexible and whole person focused. I don't believe you need to fit yourself into a particular therapeutic model. Instead, we work collaboratively to understand what matters to you and what might support you now. I draw from different therapeutic approaches alongside, adapting our work to your needs, preferences and capacity.

I have also explored practices that bring breath, movement and connection into wellbeing, inspired by Strala Yoga, Tai Chi and Qigong. Where appropriate, these can offer another way of supporting awareness, grounding and regulation beyond talking alone. I also incorporate gentle acupressure practices where they may be helpful.

I am particularly drawn to supporting women who have spent years feeling “too much”, “not enough”, or simply different — including women who are discovering or exploring neurodivergence later in life, navigating burnout, motherhood, life transitions or simply questioning whether the way they have been living still works for them.

My hope is to offer a space where you don't have to perform, explain yourself perfectly, or arrive with everything figured out.

A space where you can become curious about yourself, meet your experiences with greater compassion, and begin to discover ways of living with your whole unique self rather than against yourself. Not to become someone else but to find a way of being that feels more spacious, sustainable and meaningful.
